I am a father, husband, rancher, and lawyer.  I am a graduate of Casper College and the University of Wyoming with degrees in ag business.  I also have my law degree from the University of Wyoming.    My wife is the principal at the Buffalo Christian Academy.  My daughters, Lily and Caroline, are going to be a Senior and Sophomore in High School.  Quickly stated, I am running for reelection to the legislature because I love our community, our state, and our country.  I feel a great sense of duty to protect our way of life – to keep Wyoming the way it is and the way it should be.  I want my daughters to be able to raise their children in the Wyoming we know today – not some future version of our great state molded by outside political pressures.

If re-elected, there are several issues that I will work to address over the next two years in order to maintain our great way of life here in Wyoming.  First, we will have to continue fighting against federal overreach.  We must be vigilant in protecting state's rights and those rights guaranteed in the U.S. and Wyoming constitutions.  We also need to take a hard look at our property tax system.  Our current system is no longer sustainable and very well may tax long-time residents out of their homes and out of Wyoming.  Finally, we also need to focus on diversifying our economy and improving the economic sustainability of agriculture. 

Over the last two years, as the representative for HD 40, I have worked very hard to solve the many day-to-day problems of our great State.  I approached each of these problems with common sense and an open mind.  I listened to the constituents – who have the answers to our problems if we just listen.  I also collaborated with other legislators to address the complex issues.  For example, I was able to get a bill through that prevented a few bad actors in the oil/gas industry from failing to pay their taxes.  Now, they will have to pay their taxes like the rest of us.  I was able to keep our House District whole.  Arvada and Clearmont were not shipped off to Campbell County.  And I helped protect the lands around our veterans home from being turned into an unsightly gravel pit.

When I campaigned my first time, I told you I would listen to you.  I told you I would do my homework and read the bills.  I told you I would work hard.  I told you I would rely on my conservative values in making tough decisions.  I did all of these things and I am asking for your vote to go back to Cheyenne and do them all over again because I can make a difference in Cheyenne for the people of House District 40.

In January of 1968 I volunteered for service in the army.  In December of that same year, I was sent to Vietnam where I was assigned to the motor pool of the headquarters company of a maintenance battalion.  I served as the motor sergeant there until I rotated home in time for Christmas of 1969.

 I met my wife, Patty, while home on leave in 1968 while she was teaching school in Buffalo.  We were married in June of 1971, 51 years ago.  We have 2 children, John & Mary and 4 grandchildren.   My grandparents homesteaded in Johnson County in 1918 and bought Klondike in 1920. 

Besides serving on some local boards such as the CoOp board, Soil Conservation board, UW Sheridan experiment farm board, Johnson County Tourism Board, I have served on our local school board, as a Johnson County Commissioner and 2 years as your Representative in the Wyoming House.  

While serving as your past Representative, I feel one of my best accomplishments was to address the House Chamber and amend the bill for the Veterans Skilled Nursing facility to replace Casper and insert Buffalo as the final choice.    The Skilled Nursing facility will be a great asset, not only for Buffalo, but all Northern Wyoming.

Another bill that I sponsored in the House was a mirror bill of Senator Dave Kinskey’s Senate bill to limit a business’s liability from someone saying they caught covid or another disease at your place of business.  The bill passed in both the Senate and the House to limit some of the business’s liability, a good bill that became law.

If I am fortunate to be elected as your Representative, there are several main issues that I will work on:

  1. Personal Property Tax.   When I was in Cheyenne 3 years ago, I saw this “train wreck” coming. I brought a bill to limit tax increases on the homes of senior citizens.  I got it through the committee process and out on the House floor where the liberal Representatives defeated it.  Since then, the House, along with our current Representative, have done nothing to limit these tax increases. 
  2. I will work to put a cap on property tax NOW and then work on a long-term solution such as acquisition.
  3. No chemical abortion drugs
  4. No Legalization of marijuana
  5.  NO increase of Taxes
  6. NO more CRT in any form in our schools, including colleges.

I come to you as a true conservative republican, not just with an R by my name. I bring to the table 40 years of business experience: managing people, budgeting money and building relationships. Through the years of owning several successful businesses right here on Buffalo’s Main St. I found many of you have the same concerns I do.                                             

The top one may be transparency. This is a concern that applies to several different departments, the main one people are talking about is our fiscal policies.  Where and how money is being used, accounted for and where is it going?

There are other fiscal needs as well.

With 22 boards and 10 special districts - The needs are great and frankly, expensive.                                                              

Many of these entities have asked for additional funding.  Some have infrastructure wants and desires. I want to work with those in the county to find a way to fund these needs without raising taxes, especially property taxes through mill levies. Between the county/special districts/boards there are $80+ million dollars in reserves. I know some of these are earmarked for specific needs, but many are not.

Do we have long-term plan for the growth? Do we have enough water, can we provide services, roads, maintenance?  And how is this affecting our property taxes? Property taxes are skyrocketing. Let’s protect our elderly, our family ranches...our own, without succumbing to random unabated growth.

One other concern for many I have talked to is fair and equal justice under the law.  Everyone needs to be held accountable for their actions, and this must be across the board.

I come to you not as a politician, but as a businessman with fresh eyes and an open mind. We are the custodians of our children’s future, our land and our way of life.

I attended DeVry Institute of Technology where I received my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technologies in 1985. After graduation I accepted a position with GE Healthcare where I held several positions as follows:  Field Service Engineer, Multiple Service Manager positions, Global Technical Operations Manager with a final position as Project Manager. After 29 years with GE, I was generously offered their early retirement option and officially retired from the company. The following year I was able to move back home to Buffalo and married my wife, Kathy Green.

I was approached by some individuals in the community asking if I would be willing to run for this office. I looked at the county commissioner roles and responsibilities and see a lot of similarity between my work experience and the requirements of the position. The value and culture that I grew up with in Johnson County helped me be successful in my career with GE so I decided it’s time for me to give back to the community.

Transparency:  There needs to be a better model on providing information to the community and I feel this can be achieved with a more robust website. Along with a website there needs to be a process to provide the same information via paper.

Fiscal Responsibility:  Budgeting is very critical for the success of Johnson County and I understand the details required to insure a fair and equitable distribution of tax dollars. In each of my management roles with GE understanding revenue sources and budgeting was scrutinized at all levels. This allowed me to develop skills to look for trends, history and when to dig into the details.

Growth, Sustainability and Inclusiveness: Each of these areas are complex and involve thoughtful solutions. My approach to problem solving, in addition to my industry experience, is one of understanding, being a good teacher, education on the issues and hard work. I’m Six Sigma Green Belt Certified allowing me to understand the importance of data and how to apply in identifying risks, errors, and defects in a government or business processes. GE was the first company to use ISO 9000 Manufacturing Quality Standards and apply to service delivery. I was part of the team that help develop and implement this new culture within GE’s Healthcare division. What some call bureaucracy and red tape I call process and procedures to insure a fair and equitable government.

Johnson County has seen significant changes since I graduated in 1982. I’m seeing more people living in this community with more pressure in the Bighorn Mountains than I’ve seen as a child.  As Johnson County continues to see growth it’s important to ensure this community has the following: public land access, infrastructure to match growth, water sustainability and a safe community.

I have had four successful businesses and retired from my 30 year nursing career.  Currently, I operate an on-line retail shop and strive to maintain my commitment to achieve positive business results on multiple platforms.

After moving to Buffalo 45 years ago I began caring for people’s pets and attending college while raising four wonderful sons.   I am married and my husband is now retired from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department after 32 years.  I received a degree as a Registered Nurse from Sheridan College and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming.  I continued to pursue higher education with a Master’s degree in Nursing and then attained a second Master’s Degree in Health Care Management.  Personal interests include fishing, hunting and crafting.  I credit my family for instilling ethical values in both, my individual and professional behavior.  A community figure should be a role model, make responsible decisions and maintain public trust.

Why does one run for office? Looking at both ends of the spectrum, candidates should not run for political recognition, money, or personal interests.  I do not want to be “somebody”; I want to “do something”.  If it’s not right, you challenge it or you become part of the problem.  I want to build a better future for the residents of Johnson County.  Preserving our way of life, our historical connections and our love for God and country is vital.  I want to make sure every county resident from all walks of life has a voice.  No one is entitled to special treatment due to their status or profession.  County Commissioners need to be held accountable as their decisions impact lives.  I am running for County Commissioner to be an honest voice for those who pay my salary.

I place a high priority on the quality of my work and completing projects in an efficient and logical manner.  A major priority is the management of the county budget by demonstrating good judgement when making financial decisions. Careful consideration must be given to the cost implications of those decisions. With my business experience in establishing realistic budget objectives, my operating decisions will be made in conformance with revenue and budget limitations.  Budget variances need close attention with regard to making the appropriate adjustments and necessary justifications.  A continuous search for hidden cost improvements is pertinent in the development of short and long range goals and with overall budget oversight.

It is important to represent the county interests accurately at state and local levels.  There should be no personal agenda factored into those communications. Team contributions and decisions are not made independently.  Working with the various boards, other elected officials and constituents is extremely important.  I believe we can always find common ground in the face of adversity.  I am asking for your vote as County Commissioner.

My family has been in the area since the 1880’s; five generations to date. My three children grew up in the Kaycee and Buffalo school system and have thrived.

I graduated from Hot Springs County High School in Thermopolis, and then from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Agriculture Economics. I am a private pilot and have spent most summers trailing sheep and cattle to the Big Horn mountains to summer pastures.  My family bought the TTT Ranch in Kaycee in 1976 where I was the owner/manager of the ranch. In 1983 my family moved to Buffalo where we continued to raise livestock.  In the 1990’s I began selling real estate with Buffalo Realty and then Century 21 as an associate broker. I have been broker/owner of Sanford Ranch Realty for over 27 years, along with ranching in the county.

I’ve served on the Johnson County School Board and while there planned for growth in our school numbers. The board purchased the land for the present day high school, track and football fields along with the bus barns. If we hadn’t done this at that time, the land would not have been able to be purchased at todays’ high rates.  Johnson County has to be prepared for new growth that is going to occur so that we are not overwhelmed.  Planning is essential.  I’ve served as an election judge for 14 years and am familiar with the safety and election integrity of our elections.  We have safety backups in place to have a fair vote and the counting of ballots.   

Collecting delinquent tax bills and fees from the Forest Service along with unpaid ad valor-em taxes from the state mineral fees owed Johnson County, is of interest to me.  Presently, we are owed approximately $27 million, of which 70% is earmarked for schools, 10% for the city, and 10% for the county.

Communication with other counties on what they are doing to generate alternate income streams may provide insight for easing our own property tax burdens.  We need to tighten our belts and live within our budget as a county and plan our expenditures accordingly. Commissioners have a duty to be fiscally responsible with our budget as there are guidelines to be followed.

I believe every resident of Johnson County deserves to be heard.  I am available to listen to your concerns and look forward to serving as your County Commissioner.  Please VOTE.

I was raised, graduated high school and have been in business for over 20 years here in Johnson County.  My son goes to school here.

I volunteered with the County Fire Department for 17 years, on the YMCA Board and the Boys and Girls Club for 6 years each and on the Johnson County Live Stock Sale Sell Committee for 3 years.  I am presently the head of the outdoor pool board which I have served on for 8 years. 

I have coached YMCA Basketball and still coach Lacrosse and Little Guy Football.  In my spare time, I enjoy bird hunting, fishing, sporting clays and spending time with my friends and family, especially my son. 

My life and livelihood are centered here in Johnson County.   I am running for County Commissioner because several people approached me stating that my background in running businesses and serving on several city boards would be beneficial in the office.  

My extensive experience in developing and implementing budgets, knowing what it takes to make payroll and managing priorities and personalities would make me an effective Commissioner.  I feel it is important to balance the growth of the county with the need to remain true to our small-town values and sensibilities.

I have gained the knowledge and experience of county operations over the course of my term which will enabled me to continue to work on behalf of the people.  I will continue to hold the line on the growth of government, push back against the state and federal government when necessary, and run the county in a fiscally responsible manner.  In 2023, we will have a new clerk, assessor and a new county commissioner.  It is critical to have the knowledge of the budget process, the county’s revenue streams and the Board of Equalization process to smoothly transition forward.  I remain focused on the long-term needs of Johnson County, not the next election.

We must maintain and improve the 500 plus miles of county roads, bridges, county owned facilities and other infrastructure.  The county needs to rewrite its land-use plan which has not been updated since 2005 along with having long range planning for our water resources.  We need to continue to invest in the county employees which are responsible for the delivery of topnotch service to our constituents.   

Increased energy production coupled with the transition to monthly ad valorem payments and settlements with delinquent taxpayers has improved the financial outlook for the county after years of declining valuation.  We must keep the county’s fiscal house in order while resisting the temptation of growing the budget to unstainable levels.  We must continue our solid working relationship with Sheridan College, the Legislator, the City of Buffalo, the Town of Kaycee, the Governor, and the Congressional Delegation.

I am proud of my work on behalf of Johnson County to secure the skilled nursing facility and protect the campus of the Wyoming Veterans Home.  I am also proud of the work we have done to expand CNA training by partnering with Sheridan College.  I am also proud to have the State of Wyoming acquire the Sasol water rights while building a trust account for Lake DeSmet.  We have an incredible way of life, but it needs to be protected.

I will be running a positive, issue-based campaign.  If re-elected, I will be serving with one of the five other individuals who are running.  Speaking ill of others advances nothing for Johnson County nor solves any problems we face.  Division and distortion in politics is not the answer.  I humbly ask for your support on August 16th to continue working on behalf of all of Johnson County.

During my time as an investigator, I established monthly regional investigator meeting with local law enforcement, surrounding cities and counties law enforcement, as well as State and Federal law enforcement agencies.  I have extensive training in crimes against children, sexual assault, drug investigations, livestock theft and white-collar crime.  I was member of the Child Abuse Investigation team, member of the Juvenile Intake Team, and member of the Johnson County Mentoring Board.

If elected as your Sheriff, I will increase training for all Johnson County Deputies.  I will actively train with all local area law enforcement as well as other emergency services.  The more we train to together the more effective and efficient we become for Johnson County residents.

I will increase county road patrolling and visibility. I have extensive knowledge of all rural Johnson County and will require my deputies to have the same.

I will increase communication within the department, which includes having discussions with each deputy to determine their career goals.  I will then assist them in achieving their goals. 

If elected, we will increase our communication with other law enforcement agencies by implementing our radio system to Wyo-Link so we can communicate and listen with other law enforcement agencies.  We will share information and intel with other agencies, so we are kept up to date with current trends and criminal activity. 

I will increase our communication with the Johnson County residents.  We will actively post on social media sites to inform residents of events and daily happening in our county and communities.  One common issue that has come up while meeting with Johnson County residents is not being familiar with the newer deputies.  I will have the deputies meet with 307 Radio and the Buffalo Bulletin to do interviews so Johnson County residents can get to know them.  I will encourage deputies well on routine patrol to stop and visit with area residents.

If elected, I will be working Sheriff.  I will drive a marked patrol unit that will be easily identifiable as a Sheriff’s vehicle.  I will actively patrol our county roads with deputies’ day and night as well as perform my necessary administrative duties as Sheriff.  I will have deputies become will rounded and confident in all areas of law enforcement so we have highly trained and skilled deputies that Johnson County residents can depend on in time of crisis.

As County Sheriff, I WILL protect our way of life.

  • Accountability in the work I do, the way I treat people, and the example I set through a strong work ethic.
    -  I spent extensive time updating the Johnson County Sheriff Office policies and procedures to align with current case law and Wyoming state statute.
    -  We  hired a full-time nurse/PREA coordinator, which has enabled us to house Intensive Outpatient Inmates.  Instead of seeking treatment after incarceration, these inmates receive intensive substance abuse treatment while they are serving their sentences.  This program is designed to create a more successful transition for inmates returning to their communities.
    -  In addition to that program which started two years ago, we also house other Department of Corrections inmates.  Since I came into office, Johnson County has received a total of $572,000 from housing DOC inmates.
  • To be a full-time working sheriff.
    -  I take calls when we’re short staffed or when there are special events
    -  I assist in investigations, including child abuse and narcotics cases.
  • Common sense approach to administration, finances, and community relations.
    -  I have a positive, transparent relationship with the county commissioners.  We have been able to work through budget constraints in a way that is fiscally responsible while addressing the needs of the sheriff’s department and the safety of the communities we serve.
    -  Buffalo Police Chief Bissett and I have combined training opportunities for our departments.  This enables us to not only save money, but also ensures that both departments can work seamlessly in critical situations.
    -  I maintain an open-door policy to community members and employees.
  • Work closely with local entities to provide for the needs of individuals with mental illness issues.
    -  I served on the board of Wyoming Mental Health for over two years, until it was turned over to Volunteers of America (VOA).
    -  I am currently working with VOA and the Johnson County Healthcare Center to work toward solutions concerning people who are suffering from mental health crises or ongoing mental health issues.
  • Pursue grant opportunities to provide training and replacement of outdated equipment.
    -  Kaycee-resident deputies have received training as deputy coroners. 
    -  Two deputies and one Buffalo PD officer are currently receiving training on the Cellabrite cell phone forensic program.  This will allow local law enforcement to extract data for investigations, especially concerning children, narcotics, and human trafficking.  This training was provided by funding from the Underground Railroad and Department of Criminal Investigations.

Since the beginning of my term in office, I have focused on each of these priorities.   I sincerely appreciate your willingness to see for yourself my dedication to this office and the results I have obtained.  If elected, I will continue to serve this county with dedication and solid work ethic.

I have 2 wonderful kids one 7 and one 11 years old. While being here I took on multiply responsibilities such as doing clerical work for Buffalo Chiropractic and working before and during the Pandemic at the Clerk’s office. Due to the inconvenience of lock downs because of Covid, I needed something more flexible for my family. Currently, I am working for the School District and going to college to obtain my Associate of Arts with a Major in Psychology.

When I worked for the County Clerk, I valued the work I performed. I acquired the knowledge and responsibilities of that job I was doing and was able to see firsthand what the responsibilities of the Clerk are. I am certain that I can manage the County Clerk’s office and provide a fair, professional, and trustworthy service to the community.

I've made a commitment to treat everyone that enters the office how I would like to be treated. Your time is valuable, and everyone deserves to receive competent service that complies with Wyoming Statutes.

I consider Johnson County to be a second home away from home, and I would dearly love to continue giving back to the community.

I believe in paper ballots and that proper identification should be presented when voting.  I prefer in person voting when at all possible.  I'm not in favor of crossover voting, registering for a party you do not support, or ballot boxes.  Thankfully we have been blessed in Johnson County and we’ve not had any reason to doubt our election results.      

I enjoy serving this community.  I’m honest and I work very hard.  I would look forward to representing Johnson County as part of the Wyoming Association of County Officers.  This is important to me as they influence legislation that impacts Wyoming counties.   I want to be a valuable resource and advocate for community members, county employees, and the other elected officials.  I have excellent skills in customer service, communication, and accounting.  I’m very good at repetitive tasks, I have an acute attention to detail, and a strong conviction to do what is right.  My experience includes personnel management, payroll, accounts receivable and payables, grant writing and administration, budgeting, public relations, and marketing.  I’ve been responsible for company safety programs, DOT compliance, OSHA compliance, Workers’ Compensation and Unemployment programs, and implementation of State policies and procedures.  I also have experience in policy development, planning and evaluation, community advocacy, coalition building, and networking.  I believe the office of County Clerk is an excellent match to my skills, strengths, and experience.  I haven’t been a county clerk before, so I expect that there will be an enormous number of things to learn.  I have been faced with new challenges and opportunities on many occasions and I am committed to the process of learning and representing this community with honor. 

I moved to Buffalo in 1993.  My husband is Bill Edwards, and our children are Heidi Hauck, Randy Hauck, Crystal Smith, and Dustin Edwards.  My husband and I owned and operated local businesses over the past several years.  They are Wolverine Roustabout Service, Buffalo Tree Service, Cowboy Saloon, Value Warehouse and Consignment, and Cowboy Taxi.  I’ve worked for the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce (1994-1998), the State of Wyoming/Substance Abuse Division, and currently I’m full-time for Superior Automotive and Tire.  I serve on the JOCO First Joint Powers Board.  I’m the volunteer, part-time Executive Director of the Community Resource Center of Johnson County (CRC), a non-profit organization.  As part of the founding group of citizens that formed Healthy Communities-Healthy Youth of Johnson County in 1998, I was then employed by the CRC and facilitated the transition into becoming a 501(c)3 non-profit.  I left the organization in 2001 and returned in 2018.

I have worked in public accounting, nonprofit and governmental sectors over the past 17 years.  Income Taxes, Review/Audits, Networking, Teamwork, Deciphering and Implementing Rules and Regulations, Budgeting, Problem Solving & Long-Term Planning.  I have managed a staff of 5 and served under boards and I understand that communication and teamwork are key to the success of any organization. I want to make the transition of Vickie Edelman’s retirement as smooth as possible.  With no current staff running for the position, it will be challenging for anyone to step into this position. I will work hard alongside the team in the Clerk’s office to continue to provide quality service for the duties of the Clerk: elections, titles, marriage licenses, recordings, budgeting, and others.  I am confident my strong work ethic, leadership skills, customer service and diverse business background will ensure my success in the office of County Clerk. I am ready to step up in the service of Johnson County.

My family is everything to me. My husband, Victor Goni, has owned Powder River Fencing for 25 years, he has volunteered his time in this community as a youth coach and served on the BigHorn Basque Club Board for several years.  My mother, Marcia Gaines, was a schoolteacher for JCSD for 25 years; she coached and sat on the board of the Johnson County Library.   My sister, Kelsey McDonnell, is an accomplished artist who works at the Jim Gatchell Museum. She has coached, provided art classes, and served on the board of the Saint Francis Animal Shelter.   My father, Leo McDonnell, is an ag-businessman in Montana who has sat on the board of American Angus Association, R-CALF & US Cattlemens Asso.  I come from a family that believes in giving back to their community and our passions. I have volunteered as a youth coach and referee, I served as the treasurer and president of JSCA (Johnson Soccer Club Association) before moving up to the State Treasurer for WSA.  I served on the park board for two of the NAOB (North American Basque Organization) festivals in Buffalo, I am a past president of the Town and Country Garden Club.

My husband and I have two children, Dallas and Gavin. They have been very active in sports playing basketball, volleyball, swimming, soccer, wrestling, rodeo and FFA. We have enjoyed years of chasing them around.  We just recently welcomed the sweetest little granddaughter who is the sunshine of our days.  We also run a modest herd of registered black angus as well as a flock of white-faced sheep which take up most of our free time. We also enjoy fishing, camping, hunting, and gardening.

Our hearts have always been at the base of the BigHorns and I am really looking forward to having the opportunity to serve this community as County Clerk.

After graduating from Buffalo High School in 2000, I moved to Casper, Wyoming to attend Casper College’s paralegal program.  It was there that I began working for a local law firm as a paralegal while attending college full-time.  I graduated, with honors, from Casper College with a degree in paralegal studies in 2002.  I continued my work as a paralegal in Casper, Wyoming until having my son, at which time my husband and I decided to return to Johnson County, to raise our son with the small-town values that were instilled in me as a child. 

Over the last 12 years I have lived in Buffalo working for attorney Chris Wages.  Our office handles a wide array of cases, including deed preparation, titles, estate planning, and other civil and criminal matters.  Over the course of my work, I have been able to build good working relationships with the County Clerk’s Office, County Attorney’s Office and local title companies.    I take pride in my work and making sure our clients receive quality results in a timely manner.  These are skills that I will bring to the Johnson County Clerk’s Office.  

I believe the position of Johnson County Clerk provides me with an excellent opportunity to serve Johnson County on a larger scale.  My 22 years’ experience in the legal field make me uniquely qualified for the position.  My skills in the areas of customer service, organization, and efficiency will be highly beneficial to this office.  Also, my ability to research and interpret Wyoming Statutes will enable the Clerk’s Office to stay up to date with the latest laws and guidance enacted by the Wyoming State Legislature.    

If elected, I plan to be able to hit the ground running.  Some of my priorities would be to streamline the recording of records and make sure the general public has access to records in a timely fashion.  I also think it is essential for the general public to have electronic access to county forms and recorded documents to ensure transparency within the office.         

My goals include maintaining trust and integrity in the Johnson County Clerk’s Office and to lead with knowledge and experience.  Most importantly, I will ensure every vote counts!  Election integrity is an essential role of the County Clerk and I plan to ensure that the election process is fair and accurate, ensuring that the newly enacted Voter ID bill is upheld.  I will cultivate valuable relationships with state and local government agencies and maintain fiscal responsible within the office.  Johnson County voters deserve a leader in the Clerk's Office who will uphold their promises and that is what I intend to do.

I absolutely love my job!  I enjoy going to work each day and care about the people I work with, the important work we do, and the people we serve.

As the incumbent Clerk of District Court, I have been effective in leading the office and would be honored to continue holding the position and serving the people of Johnson County with a very high standard.

I was trained by the previous clerk, and I have served as the assistant deputy and chief deputy.  This has allowed me to take full advantage of the wealth of knowledge the office requires.  I have built a strong foundation of knowledge, training and experience, giving me a clear understanding of the clerk’s responsibilities.   As the leader of the office, I have developed a cohesive and cross-trained team, performed the various day to day duties, and successfully carried out the responsibilities required of the position.

 

My professional and life experiences such as working in District Court, being President Elect of the Wyoming Clerks of District Court Association, serving on multiple boards and a juvenile mentor, working for prosecuting and defense attorneys, being a mother and foster parent, and being married for 19 years to a former detention officer of 15+ years have provided me with various perspectives and skills to be able to perform necessary duties and serve and interact with the public effectively.

 

When re-elected, I will continue focusing on many priorities including, but not limited to, office development and cross-training, ensuring a smooth transition for the next appointed judge, striving for accuracy, consistency, and efficiency while processing and maintaining case files and court records, and maintaining a fiscally sound budget.   Offering more flexibility and convenience to jurors will continue to be a priory as well and be possible by utilizing our newly implemented jury management system and eJuror. 

Further, it remains a priority My team will continue to take advantage of training opportunities and become proficient in all areas of our new court management system early in 2023.   We are working closely with the Wyoming Supreme Court to prepare for this conversion and ensure a positive transition.  My team will continue to take advantage of training opportunities and become proficient in all areas of our new program as we prepare for the roll-out of eFiling across the state.

I have the necessary foundation and experience to continue to perform the duties and responsibilities as the Clerk of District Court while ensuring the district court office will continue to function smoothly and effectively as we embrace the upcoming changes.

I was raised on a ranch in Encampment, WY and I have three wonderful children. I have been married to my husband, Aaron Rodriguez who is currently a Corporal at the Johnson County Detention Center, for 5 years.

I have 10+ years combined experience as a Legal Assistant, 41/2 of which have been here in Johnson County. I have been a CASA volunteer (Court Appointed Special Advocate) in Johnson County since 2017 and I currently hold a Board Member position for COMPASS Center for Families in Johnson and Sheridan Counties.

Through my experience in the legal field, I have gained specific knowledge in the Civil, Criminal, Juvenile, Estate/Probate, and Child Support areas. All of which are key areas of service provided by the District Court in Johnson County. Over the years as a legal assistant, I worked to develop and maintain good relationships with other agencies that work directly with the District Court including, the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, extended County Clerks, County Attorneys here and out of county, Judicial Staff, Child Support Services, and other public resource agencies.

My experience with drafting and organizing pleadings, preserving record of all documents related to case files, and my knowledge of legal terminology make me a proper candidate for the position. It is important to me as a public servant, that everyone’s experience with District Court is handled with efficiency, organization, professionalism, and compassion. 

I grew up understanding the value in hard work and integrity. I appreciate teamwork, building relationships, and believe strongly in community involvement. As District Court Clerk, I will dedicate my efforts to bringing these values to the citizens of Johnson County.

My name is Jennifer Brothers and I have lived most of my life in Buffalo, Wyoming.  I raised my four children here.

My father, Russ Humphrey, was a previous city council member who prided himself on being a voice for the people of Buffalo.  I would like the opportunity to carry on the same values that my father brought to this community for my generation and those to come.

From my days as a young lady of 14, waitressing at the original Busy Bee restaurant, to my present management position at the Buffalo Prescription Shop, I have gained insight from both young and old about the issues that are important to them and this community.

What you see is what you get. I do not claim to know all of the issues currently facing our Buffalo community but if elected I will put in all the time and effort needed to make the best decisions for the town of Buffalo.  I am very open to any and all suggestions and ideas to make positive changes in our community.  I think it is time to bring back a women’s perspective and voice to our council.  It has been many years since we have had that.

Last summer, a county-wide sales tax increase was being pushed by members of the Buffalo City Council, the Johnson County Commission and several banks in Buffalo.  I know that the best way to increase city and county revenue is not to impose it in the form of a regressive tax but rather to allow business to flourish.  I gathered a group of Johnson County Citizens and we defeated the tax 72% to 28%.  After all, who is better at spending your money? You or the government?  72% of Johnson County knows the answer to these questions.

I grew up in a small business right here in Buffalo--Alabams.  I learned, at a very young age, how difficult it is to succeed and fail in business.  My entire career has been spent in private business.  The best way for private individuals to succeed and grow is for government to get out of the way--to allow business to grow and succeed on its own without burdensome government interference and taxes.

I have a degree in history from Sheridan College and also studied at Regis University in Denver.  Since college, most of my working career has been in the oil and gas industry handling regulatory permitting through state and federal agencies.  I know, perhaps better than anyone, the dangers of too much government involvement.  For a time I worked as a corporate trainer for AT&T.  Currently I am the host and owner of Wyoming's #1 political podcast--Cowboy State Politics.  It's a small business that I built from nothing only a year and a half ago.  Every day I work at exposing the truth about elected officials and what they are doing when none of us are watching.  I have also been endorsed in this race by Gun Owners of America for my work in protecting our 2nd Amendment rights.

 

Initially, I was not going to run again for Buffalo City Council.  At the time, I thought that I wanted to focus on my business.  My initial inclination was to support a conservative candidate who filed for the office.  When none did, I decided to step forward.

I am a conservative.  I don't believe in raising taxes and I think that the government that governs best, governs least.  I believe that the City of Buffalo needs to live within its means like the rest of us do.  Balancing the budget doesn't mean taking money from reserves.  We need a strong conservative voice on the Buffalo City Council.  I want to be that voice and I hope that you write-in David Iverson for Buffalo City Council on August 16.

I have had a long term interest in public service and have willingly stepped up in the past to run for public office.  Upon early retirement in 2002, my wife, Cheryl, and I moved to Buffalo from Rapid City. We have two daughters living in Sheridan and Rapid City.

 

Soon after, I was asked by those active in the local Republican party to run for an open legislative seat in the Wyoming House of Representatives.  I was elected to the position in 2006. During that service I learned much about the interplay between state and municipal government in Wyoming.  I was  re-elected five times.  During that twelve year period, I served on numerous committees dealing with finance, budgeting and public agency management.                                      

                                   

By way of background I grew up on a farm in northwest Iowa and attended public school there.  I then received an undergraduate degree in Economics and Mathematics at South Dakota State University.  Upon graduation I was awarded a fellowship at Iowa State University and received a Ph.D in Economics and Statistics in 1970.

 

I started my professional career at the University of Wyoming, and subsequently assumed a position at the University of South Dakota as a Professor of Economics and Quantitative Analysis eventually becoming Assistant Dean directing a Master of Business Administration program in Rapid City. 

 

During the time I resided in Rapid City, I was elected to the Rapid City Council not long after the 1972 Rapid City flood.  I served in that capacity until 1984 and learned much about  intergovernmental cooperation after unexpected situations.

 

A major reason that I am seeking write-in votes for the Buffalo Council is that I feel our city government is running quite smoothly due to the competent employees that work in local government and the decorum that the Buffalo city council members demonstrate in their service to the city.

 

 I have no axes to grind and I have no monumental changes in mind that need immediate attention. 

In my opinion, a top priority should be to do everything that our city and county governments can to foster and encourage the local visitor industry to grow so that it can produce economic benefits to the businesses and citizens of the Johnson County.  Included in that goal is the development of a first class facility for conferences, meetings and conventions thereby taking advantage of our strategic location in the state.

I grew up and attended school K-12 in Buffalo and then received my BS in Education at the University of Wyoming in 1985.  In the 1985-86 school year, I was hired for a 1-year contract to teach Business Education at Sheridan College.  The following year I worked at the First Interstate Bank of Buffalo and then obtained a business education position at Buffalo High School.  I earned a Masters in Education in 1995 with a focus on Technology in the Classroom.  After 24 years in the classroom, I was selected as a K-12 Technology Instructional Facilitator and serviced all of the schools in Johnson County with technology integration for ten years.  My next three years at JCSD#1 were at Kaycee School as a Librarian/Business Teacher–earning a Library Media Specialist Endorsement, and then I retired in June 2021.  After a short retirement break, I returned to JCSD#1 and now work as an Administrative Assistant at New West High School, JCSD#1’s Alternative School.

My political career includes running for a county office in 1986 (and losing), being appointed to the first Wyoming Women’s Commission by Governor Mike Sullivan, and representing Johnson County for four years.

If elected to city council, my agenda would be fiscal responsibility, planned progress, and being an active listener of city residents.  I would also like to support our city employees responsible for our safety, water, roads, building/planning, garbage, etc., allowing us to enjoy our accustomed quality of life.

I will be a committed, hard-working individual who will ask tough questions, seek out information, and solicit input from city residents.  I am asking for your vote and appreciate your support.

Hi, I am Jody Sauers, the owner of GiGi's Vintage & Upscale Resale in downtown Buffalo. The health and prosperity of our town is vital to my business and I will bring strong business and leadership skills to the City Council.

In 2024 WYDOT will be reworking our main street from i25 to i90 during our summer season, we need a solid plan to work with WYDOT and our businesses to insure our businesses have a strong  summer.

I also own the Baker Building and have 4 apartments upstairs that I have renovated. During that time, I have learned what a shortage of affordable housing we have in Buffalo. It's important that we work on improving affordable housing for the health of our small businesses. 

I am a fifth generation Buffalonian growing up in Wyoming and graduating from the University of Wyoming. I have served as the Board President for the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce & board member of the Buffalo Downtown Association. I am a current board member of the Johnson County Tourism Association.

I was born and raised in Johnson County and graduated from Buffalo Highschool in 1994.   I started my law enforcement career with the Converse County Sheriff’s in 1998 as a Detention Deputy.  In 2000 I started working for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff Larry Kirkpatrick as a Detention Deputy.  During my career with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, I have worked as a Detention Deputy, Patrol Deputy, and Investigator.

During my time as an investigator, I established monthly regional investigator meeting with local law enforcement, surrounding cities and counties law enforcement, as well as State and Federal law enforcement agencies.  I have extensive training in crimes against children, sexual assault, drug investigations, livestock theft and white-collar crime.  I was member of the Child Abuse Investigation team, member of the Juvenile Intake Team, and member of the Johnson County Mentoring Board.

If elected as your Sheriff, I will increase training for all Johnson County Deputies.  I will actively train with all local area law enforcement as well as other emergency services.  The more we train to together the more effective and efficient we become for Johnson County residents.

I will increase county road patrolling and visibility. I have extensive knowledge of all rural Johnson County and will require my deputies to have the same.

I will increase communication within the department, which includes having discussions with each deputy to determine their career goals.  I will then assist them in achieving their goals. 

If elected, we will increase our communication with other law enforcement agencies by implementing our radio system to Wyo-Link so we can communicate and listen with other law enforcement agencies.  We will share information and intel with other agencies, so we are kept up to date with current trends and criminal activity. 

I will increase our communication with the Johnson County residents.  We will actively post on social media sites to inform residents of events and daily happening in our county and communities.  One common issue that has come up while meeting with Johnson County residents is not being familiar with the newer deputies.  I will have the deputies meet with 307 Radio and the Buffalo Bulletin to do interviews so Johnson County residents can get to know them.  I will encourage deputies well on routine patrol to stop and visit with area residents.

If elected, I will be working Sheriff.  I will drive a marked patrol unit that will be easily identifiable as a Sheriff’s vehicle.  I will actively patrol our county roads with deputies’ day and night as well as perform my necessary administrative duties as Sheriff.  I will have deputies become will rounded and confident in all areas of law enforcement so we have highly trained and skilled deputies that Johnson County residents can depend on in time of crisis.

As County Sheriff, I WILL protect our way of life.

I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology/Chemistry from Black Hills State University.

I have been a rancher and grew up on the family farm/ranch. I have worked in the electrical construction industry as well as sales in the electrical industry. I worked in the Coal Bed Methane industry as a consultant for permitting such CBM wells.

I have worked in the Assessor’s office beginning back in 1998-2003, and then once again from 2011-present. I worked in the Campbell County assessor’s office for 3 years during that time and concentrated mostly on Oil & Gas appraisal. I have worked under 4 different assessors during that time.

In 2018 and 2019 I was the Oil & Gas instructor for the Department of Revenue’s Oil & Gas class that was offered to other people working for assessors in the state of Wyoming.

I feel that I bring a lot of experience to this position and have been a certified appraiser through the State of Wyoming for over 10 years. The assessor is sworn to follow the State Statutes and Department Rules. I will continue to follow those rules and to do it in the fairest and most equitable way possible.
